‘The event exceeded my expectations. The sessions were well planned and managed and had the appropriate presenters.’

‘It was a great opportunity to network, learn, share, as well as identify potential partners within Uganda and abroad.’

The first ever GDC member event on last mile distribution took place in Kampala, Uganda from 22 to 23rd July 2019. The event was designed in consultation with members, was free to attend and spanned two exciting and insightful days. It brought together 50+ last mile distribution companies with approximately 20 funders, mentors and sector specialists.

Day one included interactive bootcamps on topics such as salesforce effectiveness and retention, fundraising and sales & marketing.

Day two focussed on investment readiness and access to finance, with funders including USAID, GET.invest, the Clean Cooking Alliance and SIMA funds sharing insights and opportunities for GDC members.

The event also included the opportunity to see Ugandan GDC members Anuel Energy and SPOUTS of Water in action.

Anuel Energy develops and deploys affordable solar energy systems, while SPOUTS provides access to safe and clean drinking water through the production and distribution of ceramic water filters.

What next?

This is the first in a series of last mile distribution events the GDC is planning to deliver for our members over the next two years. The experiences and valuable feedback gathered from the event in Kampala will help us to develop exciting and relevant future events for members to benefit from, and we hope to deliver the next of these such events in early 2020.
